Greetings from the Principal Birjhora Kanya Mahavidyalaya, a premier educational institution for girls in Lower Assam. The idea of gifting Bongaigaon an Institute of Higher Education for women brought together a group of likeminded Philanthropic and in a meeting on 29/11/1992, Presided by late Binanda Chandra Pathak, a noted educationist, was decided that a Sponsoring Body chaired by Mr. Phani Bhusan Choudhury, the then MLA, Bongaigaon, be constituted to realize that dream. Thus, Birjhora Kanya Mahavidylalaya, was established in 1993, at the heart of Bongaigaon town. The college which started its journey with 50 students and 7 teachers has today grown into an institute for excellence with more than 1500 students . The college was accorded affiliation by Gauhati University and concurrence by the Govt. of Assam from the session 1997-1998.

At present the college offers not only H.S. and Degree (Arts) both in General and Major Courses of G.U. but also offers various courses such as B.A., B.M.C. etc. under K.K. Handiqui State Open University and IDOL .

The college Campus has an unique and ideal educational atmosphere for students and teachers for all round development.

Since its inception the sole aim of the college has been to impart holistic and quality education to young women of this region through a wide range of scholastic and co-scholastic activities. Apart from providing the value based education synergized with modern teaching learning methods, we also focus on discovering and developing the inner abilities of the students to enable them to take the future challenges of the society. Having achieved the milestone of 25 years we with the help of our competent faculty members strive for greater heights and to render better service to the society.
